The Duke of Sussex had a face-to-face meeting with his father on Wednesday while visiting London for an Invictus Games reception, a competition for injured military personnel and veterans that will next be staged in Birmingham, England in two years.

It was the first time they saw each other in person since February 2024 when Harry immediately flew from his California home to be by his father’s side after Charles announced was diagnosed with cancer.

“Yes he’s great, thank you,” Harry said when asked at the function how the monarch is doing, according to Britain’s Daily Mail.

The 40-year-old Harry, on a rare four-day stay for a variety of solo charity visits, reportedly met with his father for 55 minutes.

At the reception later that evening, Harry spoke of an overwhelming feeling in a time when wars and other conflicts are raging around the world.

“The Invictus community stands as a direct challenge to that,” he said. “We prove that unity is not just possible, but formidable. That the bonds of courage, respect and humanity are stronger than the divisions of politics, background, or nationality.

“Our ambition for the future is clear: we will focus where the need is great, we will strengthen the international community we have already built, and we will continue to drive systemic change — ensuring that wounded, injured, and sick service personnel everywhere can find recovery through sport, rehabilitation, and the support of community.”

The Duke, who arrived in Britain on Monday, apparently hasn’t crossed paths this week with older brother and heir to the throne, Prince William.

Around the same time, William and his wife Catherine, Princess of Wales, were several kilometres away visiting the Women’s Institute, a community-based organization.

It is also reported that Harry is staying at a hotel at his own expense after not being offered a place at a royal property.

Harry and his wife Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, remain estranged from the rest of the Royal Family since stepping down from their roles and moving to the U.S. five years ago.
