Police watchdog probing crash that left boy driver, 14, hurt

The province’s police watchdog is investigating an early morning crash in Scarborough that left an underage driver with serious injuries.

The Special Investigations Unit said a Toronto Police cruiser pursued a driver for speeding at about 1 a.m. Sunday before the motorist collided with another vehicle at the Lawrence Ave. E.-Kingston Rd. intersection.

The SIU said a 14-year-old boy, who was allegedly driving the vehicle being chased by police, was hospitalized with a serious injury.

They said there were three other passengers in the vehicle, but none of them were seriously hurt.

The SIU said three investigators, two forensic investigators and a collision reconstructionist are assigned to the case.

MOTORCYCLIST CRITICAL AFTER CRASH ON DVP OFF-RAMP

A 23-year-old man is fighting for his life after losing control of his motorcycle overnight on a Don Valley Parkway off-ramp.

Toronto Police said they responded to a single-vehicle crash Sunday at about 1:30 a.m. in the DVP-Lawrence Ave. E. area.

Police said the rider was travelling northbound on the DVP and exited at Lawrence before losing control. He was transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.

MILTON MAN CHARGED WITH DANGEROUS, IMPAIRED DRIVING

A 29-year-old Milton man is facing dangerous driving and impaired driving charges after rolling his car in a three-vehicle crash in Mississauga.

The OPP’s Highway Safety Division said the incident happened on the eastbound lanes of Hwy. 403 at Eglinton Ave., but did not include when the crash happened.
