American rocker Jackson Browne’s adult son, Ethan Browne, has died at age 52.

The Running on Empty hitmaker announced the news Wednesday on Facebook, revealing that Ethan was found “unresponsive in his home” Tuesday morning and died shortly thereafter.

“It is with deep sorrow that we share that on the morning of Nov. 25, 2025, Ethan Browne, the son of Jackson Browne and Phyllis Major, was found unresponsive in his home and has passed away,” Jackson, 77, shared.

“We ask for privacy and respect for the family during this difficult time. No further details are available at this moment.”
The Somebody’s Baby singer and the late Major, an actress and model, welcomed Ethan in 1973.
While Jackson and Major tied the knot two years later in 1975, their marriage ended a few months later when Major died by suicide in March 1975. She was 30.

Ethan, meanwhile, appeared alongside his singer-songwriter father on the cover of Rolling Stone at just six months old in 1974.

Ethan had some notable acting roles
He also had an impressive career as an actor, model and musician.
After landing a role in the Angelina Jolie flick Hackers in 1995, Ethan went on to star in the 2004 Kate Hudson movie Raising Helen. He also appeared in a single episode of the Batman spinoff series Birds of Prey on WB in 2002.
The singer’s son also modelled for famous designers including Isaac Mizrahi.
In a 2022 interview with Tru Rock Revival, Jackson praised his son’s parenting skills.
“Ethan is a great father. He’s a great son, a great man,” Browne said. “I love seeing him with his kids. When I see him in his movies, modelling, with his daughter and being such a great dad, it makes me very proud. It makes me feel I’ve done something really right in my life.”
