A man convicted of armed robbery and other offences who has been on the run for 18 months has been nabbed in Toronto.

Ontario Provincial Police say Nicholas Singh – a federal offender sought by the Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement (R.O.P.E.) Squad since he went “unlawfully at large” on May 31, 2024 – has been taken into custody by Toronto Police.

The OPP appealed for help from the public finding Singh back in August 2024 saying the then-23-year-old was wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for breaching his statutory release.
Singh is currently serving a five-year, five-month and 10-day sentence, the OPP said in a statement released Saturday.
He was previously convicted of discharging a restricted/prohibited firearm with intent, robbery using a restricted/prohibited firearm, and possession of a weapon contrary to prohibition order.

No further details of his crimes were released.
“The Provincial R.O.P.E. Squad would like to thank the public and the media for their assistance in this investigation,” the OPP said.

Man accused of uttering suspected hate-motivated threats on a TTC bus
A 38-year-old man is accused of uttering suspected hate-motivated threats on a TTC bus in the city’s west end.
Toronto Police say officers responded around 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 3 to a report of an alleged hate crime that occurred on a TTC bus in the area of Eglinton Ave. W. and Allen Rd.

“It is alleged that at approximately 6:15 p.m., the victim was onboard a TTC bus when the suspect boarded the bus while playing music loudly,” police said.
“The victim asked the suspect to turn the music down,” police said, explaining the suspect allegedly “made anti-immigrant remarks toward the victim and threatened to assault the victim if they didn’t stop talking.”
Police said the victim alerted the bus driver, prompting the suspect to exit the bus and flee in an unknown direction.
Investigators subsequently identified the suspect and arrested him on Thursday.
Marco Valerio Giogrio, of Toronto, is charged with uttering threats.
He is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 14, 2026.
“This investigation is being treated as a suspected hate-motivated offence,” police said.

Shooter sought for opening fire on Oshawa home
The hunt is on for an unidentified shooter who opened fire on an Oshawa home last week.
Durham Regional Police say officers responded to a call regarding the incident at a residence in the area of Richmond St. E. and Oshawa Blvd. N. – east of Ritson Rd. – on Friday.
“The homeowners contacted police after they found their residence and vehicle damaged from being been shot at,” police said.
Investigators believe the shooting occurred the previous evening, on Thursday, shortly before 11:30 p.m.
“At this time, there is no threat to public safety as this is believed to be an isolated incident,” police said.
No suspect description has been released.

Scarborough home shot up
A Scarborough home was damaged by gunfire early Saturday.
Toronto Police say officers responded to a report of gunfire at the residence in the area of Bellamy and Ellesmere Rds. around 6:30 a.m.
“Officers on scene have located evidence of gunfire,” police said on X, adding there was also damage to the home.
Nobody was injured and police said the investigation is “ongoing.
No suspect description has been released.
