The Maple Leafs, winners of two straight games heading into Thursday’s clash against the Hurricanes, are already without goalie Anthony Stolarz, who is tending to an upper-body injury.
Leafs also awaiting Stolarz’s return
Head coach Craig Berube said late last month that Stolarz’s injury was “worse than we thought” after he left a game against the Boston Bruins on Nov. 11.
“He’s not ready to get on the ice yet, do the things that he has needed to do,” Berube told members of the media on Nov. 20. “Hopefully it’s soon.
“I really don’t have a timetable for him. Maybe tomorrow he will be back on the ice, I’m not sure.”
Berube said at the time that Stolarz had not suffered a setback.

Woll missed time last season as well
Woll, meanwhile, has an injury history of his own, suffering a lower-body injury last season after ankle and shoulder injuries in previous seasons.
He also missed time earlier this year to deal with a personal family matter.
Woll, however, has been a steadying presence for the Maple Leafs when he is on the ice, posting a 2.53 goals-against average and .924 save percentage this season to go along with a 3-3-1 record.
He’s 51-30-3 over his career with a 2.73 GAA and .911 save percentage.
