Adding to the troubles, Moore has since been detained by cops in neighbouring Saline, per multiple reports, and was turned over to the Pittsfield Township police with potential criminal charges on the way.
No information on reason for detainment
Authorities have not released any information as to why Moore was detained.
Moore just completed his second year at the helm of the Wolverines, having guided the team to a 9-3 record in the regular season. His record was 18-8 overall, while serving as the team’s head coach.
Biff Poggi has been named acting head coach for the postseason.

“U-M head football coach Sherrone Moore has been terminated, with cause, effective immediately,” the school wrote in a statement on Wednesday. “Following a university investigation, credible evidence was found that Coach Moore engaged in an inappropriate relationship with a staff member. This conduct constitutes a clear violation of university policy, and U-M maintains zero tolerance for such behaviour.”
Suspended in sign-stealing scandal
Back in August, the NCAA fined Michigan tens of millions of dollars and suspended coach Moore for three games for a sign-stealing scandal that has loomed over college football’s winningest program for nearly two years.
In a notice sent to the school last year, the NCAA alleged that Moore violated rules as an assistant under Jim Harbaugh.
Harbaugh left the Wolverines after they won the 2023 national championship.
Moore was also accused of deleting text messages as part of the scandal.
